Cute Pheasant Crow Chicks

Yesterday’s good spell of rain had bought some cool effect but heavy winds had uprooted few trees in our area.

Today morning, our garden was very cool and loved it being green and serene with many birds chirping around. They would sip water and take bath and enjoy in a small bowl of water that’s kept in the garden.  They would take turns most of the time J

At around 8.30 am, after a short walk, stepped out to sit on a chair near the swimming pool area where there were lots of greenery.

I just noticed 2 small chicks struggling in hunger.  Yesterday’s heavy winds had bought down a nest of Pheasant Crow and 2 chicks were on the bench and were abandoned.

They were struggling and were screeching out of hunger.

We called our neighbor Priya (also known as Pet Priya for her love towards pets and rescuing them) and Rajiv for help.  We immediately discussed the next steps.  That’s when we reached out to a Snake Rescuer who said would find out a volunteer who can help pick up the chicks and leave it in safe hands till they are able to fly.

He advised us to place the birds in a cardboard box with lots of holes around (for aeration) and place some leaves from their nest so that they feel @ home.

He also advised that we need to ONLY feed ripe banana and mango and strictly NO water or worms.  We need to be feeding them every hour till they are rescued.

Good friend Priya agreed to feed them and take care till the rescue arrived.  They were fed regularly as suggested.  Hope they liked it.  They even slept most of the time like young ones do.

At 2.30 PM rescue friend arrived and the chicks were handed over to the safe hands.

Hope they are safe and will fly freely in next 2 to 3 weeks.

 Bye birdies.
